Mbps (Mb/s or megabits per second). These are optimum bandwidths. Actual bandwidth may vary due to network traffic and are not guaranteed. Bandwidth is shared. The difference between maximum speed and average speed can be especially large in wireless technology. The varying amount of data traffic on the Internet (and your own LAN if applicable), the condition of your computer equipment, your signal strength, local interference, and your distance from our transmitter(s) affect the speed of any connection at any given time.

Burstable When you surf the web, you click on a link and "burst" to some web page. Then you read something on that web page or again "burst" to another web page by clicking on another link. It's like you sprint to somewhere and then rest. Burstable download/upload speeds allow usage to exceed a specified threshold for brief periods of time without penalty. Examples include normal web surfing, email, instant messenger, VoIP, etc.

Sustained Then you find a music file you want to download and you click on the download link. For the first few seconds, it's still considered a "burst." After a few seconds, downloading that music file (if it hasn't finished downloading) shifts you into a "sustained" download (or constant download) phase. It's like a steady jog instead of the sprint and rest (burst). The reason larger file downloads (e.g. large music, large videos and photos, etc.) are downloaded at a slower speed is because larger files require larger amounts of available total network bandwidth to download them.
